The media has a lot of influence over the public’s understanding over things such as politics, celebrities, and sports. Cybersecurity is not an exception to that. A lot of times in movies they make cybersecurity seem like this quick process that gets simulated through pretty quickly. When in reality it takes lots and lots of time and resources to be able to hack and decrypt. While there are certainly people who may be more efficient than others, they still need to devote a lot of time and effort to pull off cybercrimes. Another misconception the media gives us is that cybercrime happens mainly to large companies. When in reality people individually fall victim to cybercrimes daily. Whether it is losing money or just their information being taken. This may cause people to be somewhat reckless thinking it is not as big of a threat as it really is in their daily lives.
