This would work well as my connection works directly with both tennis teams, has to utilize social media in her work, and I am doing photography for the men&#8217;s tennis team this semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By creating a BTS content post, fans and students are given an opportunity to see what goes on behind the camera at an important part of their season. The project would be titled <em>&#8220;The Making of Men&#8217;s Tennis Media Day&#8221; <\/em>and would be a multi-platform video campaign created to showcase the planning, execution, and storytelling that goes into building a team&#8217;s brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How This Idea Came To Be<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During this semester, I have been building a connection with Lauren Rivera-Galvez, the SID for Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Tennis at ODU. Through our conversations, I gained insight into what a media day typically looks like. Initially, I wanted to do a single post that captured all of what went into a media day; however, Lauren suggested that I turn it into a multi-part series that goes over each major part individually. This would allow for more content and more insight to be put out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This advice shows how getting professional input can transform an idea into a more in-depth plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Quest: Media Day BTS Campaign<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overview: <\/strong>This project is a multi-part series that will document the planning, coordination, setup, and execution of the media day for the ODU Men&#8217;s Tennis Team. Our goal is to give fans, students, and sponsors insight into what goes into creating an image for the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives: <\/strong>This project has three distinct objectives&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Increase fan engagement through authentic storytelling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen the program&#8217;s digital media presence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight the role of sport communications in collegiate athletics<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Target Audience: <\/strong>Our targeted audience is small but simple: sponsors, recruits, students, and fans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content Plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Episode 1: <\/strong>This episode will cover the planning\/preparation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Staff meetings and scheduling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Branding decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Goals for media day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Episode 2: <\/strong>The setup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Equipment setup (cameras, lighting, backdrops, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff coordination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-event logistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Episode 3: <\/strong>Media day in action<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Player interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photo\/video shoots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BTS athlete interactions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Episode 4: <\/strong>Final product and <\/strong>the plan at this stage is to collaborate with communications staff, identify\/create the final timeline, and develop a filming schedule<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Production: <\/strong>capture BTS content, record interviews with athletes, and document candid\/unscripted moments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Post-Production: <\/strong>edit footage into short episodes and format the content for different social media platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Distribution: <\/strong>release episodes over a 1-2 week period, coordinate posting with the official team accounts, and engage with audience interactions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Promotion Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to maximize reach and engagement, we will do all of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Countdown posts leading up to content releases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Player &#8220;sneak peek&#8221; graphics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Branded hashtags (#ODUTennismediaday)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-promotion through athletic department channels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a few expected outcomes. By completing this project, both Lauren and I expect to see increased social media engagement, growth in followers on team accounts, positive feedback, and an overall stronger visibility for the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, this project will highlight the power of storytelling in sport communication by focusing on the process that goes into setting up and executing a media day for a collegiate sports program.
