Just by taking a look at the current landscape of large controlling companies such as social media corporations and new networks, it is obvious to me that in certain aspects there is a lack of regulation. The only real way I see for companies of such power to be regulated is by the intervention of the state powers or a system in which corporation hold each other accountable. This is something that is easier said than done considering the influence that these corporations have over the governmental powers of this country. There is a need for serious consideration of laws that outline legality and restrictions of technology in the present and future landscape. The same applies for the intelligification of the material world, a balance needs to be found between convivence and technology dependence or the negative effects of technology. It is easy to view technology through the optimistic lens while never considering the negatives and the necessary regulations to protect against them. Unfortunately, the capitalist society that we live in while providing freedom and opportunity, it also facilitates profit and innovation at all costs business model.
