Teaching Advocacy Plan

Advocacy plan

Nico Craig

My three priority reasons

  • Music provides kids with a place to put fourth creative effort and to express themselves.
  • Music gives kids a sense of accomplishment and can give them a confidence booster to start their day
  • Music has been proven to help students in other subjects such as math in science

I choose to write about these points; because, I feel that these are three major points as to why music education funding should stay the same and not be cut as much or none.  Music is an essential element to learning with multiple positive aspects that help the student in many different aspects of life.  There have been scientific studies that show students enrolled in music classes often score higher on stem and critical thinking classes such as science and math.  So with the budget not being cut from the music department you will be providing the students a better education by proxy.

My five areas of communication

  • I would set up meetings with department heads to show the success of my program
  • I would invite the principle and other administration to view the progress and success firsthand
  • I would setup program success concerts where students can show off solo pieces that they have worked on
  • Do more research on how music applies to success in other classes
  • Compare the success of my program to other schools as a base line
