As explained in my introduction, Spanish was in close proximity during my formative years. As time went on the language drifted away although the culture remains. Spanish 101 brought the fundamentals back to me after a gap in use of more than 20 years. Revisiting the conjugation of verbs brought a rush of memories back as familiar words and patterns reappeared. My professor joked that I should have tested out of this class, but I truly received an education. In fact, this was more than a refresher because as an adult learner, I value the education significantly more than I did as a teenager.

While learning a language online presents challenges with practice, I found myself speaking out loud along with the Lingro Learning videos. They reinforced my confidence in what I was learning and missing the mark revealed the weaknesses in my language skills.
