My first Spanish classes was in 8th grade. We learned the basics and had to research Spanish culture and present it in a PTA meeting. It was fun but information I received in that class was tucked in the back on my mine until my sophomore year of high school. From my sophomore to senior, I took Spanish and did not enjoy it. I am not sure if it was the teacher or the material but it was not my favorite class.
As I have realized with my major, dance major, learning a foreign language will be useful and as a minister, it will give me a way to communicate with others. So I decided to try Spanish again and this time, I enjoyed learning the language. It has been difficult, learning the pronunciations of the letters and words, remembering the conjugations and the correct spelling but this class has helped to build my confident more.
One of my weakness is being able to dissect a sentences or a statement being spoken to me that I have to answer. Normally, it would take up to 2 minutes to dissect the words, their meanings, and what my response should be. Our the course of the class, I am able to dissect sentences and statements in about half that time.
Also, one of my weakness is writing sentences in correct way instead of how it work read in English. For an example, we talked about younger and older siblings. In English, you work write this words as younger siblings or older siblings where as in Spanish, it is written as “hermanos mayores” or “hermanos menores”. In Spanish, the word younger (mayores) / older (menores) comes after the word siblings (hermanos) as English does the opposites. This rule I keep written in my note when written my paragraphs to ensure what I am written is correctly structured.

This class has give me more confident then I had about speaking and understanding the Spanish language and culture. I believe that I continue to study and learn more Spanish, I will be able to see the language fluently and have an effective key to meet and interact with people in all my positions I hold.
