Criminal Justice and cyber crime run in similar circles. Both include offenses that are committed by an offender with the only interchangeable constant being whether or not technology is being used, cybercrime is defined as a criminal activity that targets or uses a computer or a computer network. Thus it being a criminal activity makes it illegal and welcomes the world of Criminal Justice to follow up and take over. Digital forensics is a major link that connects and combines both worlds. Digital forensics refers to an investigation of cyber, computer, electronic, or other types of cyber crimes. The historical development of digital forensics involves a number of Criminal Justice professionals. Criminal Justice can also be useful in helping to identify appropriate interventions and responses to cyber offenders.

These overlaps relate to different disciplines due to the fact that many crimes today are typically White Collar crimes. white collar crimes are non-violent business related crimes caused by corruption. With the world being more and more digital day-to-day and depending more on technology each day, white collar crimes are shifting to be more digital as well.  This is mainly in part due to having a wider reach by having the set attackers being able to pick and choose anyone anywhere with a digital footprint and making them more vulnerable at being at risk of becoming a victim.  Thus, them being a victim of cyber crime,  criminal justice hopes to bring them peace and resolution.
