WEEK 14: The author has described eleven things Internet users do that may be illegal. Review what the author says and write a paragraph describing the five most serious violations and why you think those offenses are serious.

The author talks about five serious internet offenses. First off, using torrent services to
download pirated movies or music is illegal because it steals from the creators. Obviously this is
cutting off deserved funds from the rightful owners. Second, sharing someone’s personal
information, like their address or photos, online without permission can hurt them and is against
the law, and can lead to serious harm. Third, cyberbullying, or bullying people online, can lead to
legal trouble if it causes harm, whether self inflicted or escalated. This obviously breaks codes of
human decency as well. Fourth, faking your identity online, like pretending to be someone else
to trick others, is a crime. Finally, collecting personal information about kids under 13 without
their parents’ permission is illegal. These actions are serious because they break the law and can
hurt people’s safety and privacy. They are morally wrong and have unlimited consequences.
