WEEK 6: Can you spot three fake websites and compare the three fake websites to three real websites, plus showcase what makes the fake websites fake?

1) PayPal
In late 2023 there were a series of websites that were mimicking PayPal logins. These fake login
URLs would be sent through messages with impersonations of PayPal URLs. The goal of these
fake pages was to gain the consumers trust and have them input their Login User ID and
password. Once consumers were done inputting their information, the masks behind the fake
profile would have customers’ information basically gifted to them on a silver platter.
Fake URL: www.PayPa1.com
www.PayPail.com
Real URL: www.PayPal.com
In order to fool the customers , they mimic the real ID ,but slightly tweak them in order to bypass
the common and unsuspicious eye.

2) Apple
Fake Apple Customer Service Websites are uncommon. It’s another to join the series of Apple
Fakes, products such as iphones, ipads, airpods and now websites. Such fake page examples use
SEO poisoning techniques to appear on top of Google results.
Fake URL: www.applelabsv.com
Such apple URLs wouldn’t add extra letters, let alone use anything other than www.Apple.com.

3) NIKE
Nike is just one of many companies that have to deal with copycats and fake websites.
Fake URL: www.suewhitehurst.shop/collections/air-jordan-1
Real URL: www.Nike.com
