WEEK 5: Review the articles linked with each individual motive in the presentation page or Slide #4.Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to theleast sense (being 7). Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

I would rank the motives for cybercrime as follows: First, “for money” is the strongest motive
because many people commit crimes to make money. Second, “Revenge” makes sense due to
people who feel wronged might turn to cybercrime to get back at someone. Third, the “Political”
motive is important, especially with hacktivism, where people act online to support or protest a
cause. Fourth, “Recognition” drives some to commit cybercrimes for respect or fame in their
communities, but it’s more about status than direct gain. Fifth, “Entertainment” is a reason too,
as some enjoy the thrill of cybercrime, though it’s not as strong as other motives. Sixth,
“Boredom” can lead to risky choices, but it’s less convincing as a motive, showing a lack of
purpose. Lastly, “Multiple Reasons” covers a range of motivations, but it’s too vague to clearly
explain why someone would commit cybercrime.
