Eng 211C: English Composition

The academic work I have accomplished in English 211C throughout the semester has been advancing my knowledge in both my major and entertainment law. This course has continually taught me how to develop well-written arguments. As an English major, being able to convey to message to my audience as effectively as possible is instrumental law and in all forms of communication. For example, arguing my position on the product liability debate in different argumentative forms has taught me how to persuade my audience, depending on their stance on the issue. The complex topic of product misuse itself has expanded my knowledge significantly in ethics, law, and economics. Since I want to become an entertainment lawyer, learning how to effectively analyze contracts, persuade, and comprehend information will aid me in my journey to my intended career. Moreover, as an English major, strengthening critical thinking, reading, and information literacy skills will make the journey to graduate ODU easier. The skills I will gain from my English classes will help in all my classes because the remainder of my classes all include reading, critical thinking, and critical analysis in some form. As I practice and hone these skills every day through academics or multiple forms of communication, the ability to graduate with an English major then transfer to law school will be significantly easier. Now that I am in the beginning stages of furthering my educational career from the legally mandatory standards, my audience will see improvement throughout the years.
