Post colonialims is criticism that focuses on either colonizers or colonized and its consequences of identity the suppressed go through. 

 

Questions Post Colonialism Ask

How do the characters deal with defining their identity?  Do they hold to tradition? Is there evidence of hybridity? To what extent are tensions in identity formation reconciled?

• These questions are important because we need to know the effects of whats happening to the colonized identities and how they are handling. These questions will say alot about how people feel back then and how much tension was created because of the colonization.

Homi Bhabha was one contributor to the theory. He brought up ideas of hybridity. How the colonized can resist through mimicry. And if a colonizer decides to leave he thought of the impact they would leave behind. Gayatri Spivak brought up the idea an an “other” an outsider to the community and how people interact with them.
