In this analysis, I apply narratology to the short story, “A Rose for Emily”. This essay argues that the story is criticizing unmarried women through a unorthadox narrative arrangment of the plot. The application of narratology on this text made me realize how a story’s timeline can effect the meaning or interpreation of it as it priotizes attention to different issues first.
