The article entitled “Social Cybersecurity An Emerging National Security Requirement” turns its focus away from the soldier on soldier conflicts of war and instead focuses on how social engineering attacks on a country’s people can weaken them from the inside out. After reading this article, I found that the strategic attacks were pretty ingenious. Using social media to conduct false information attacks on an opposing country to cause a divide from the inside and make their own citizens distrust their government and fight each other from the inside is cost effective and far less riskier than declaring actual war on another country. It’s a scary concept, but the war of the future as information is the key to disruption, it is up to us to keep false information out and teach people to not believe everything they read on the internet. If we can do that then we can maybe have the upper hand in this war.
