Innovative Cyber Challenge

This is a yearly team-based challenge where cyber students from multiple colleges participates in a competition to identify and present a challenge/issue that is prevalent in the cybersecurity land scape. Our job is to figure out solutions to the issue and see what can be done to solve/prevent the issues from occurring any further. These challenges primarily incorporate innovated thinking, analytical and critical problem solving skills to get us better equipped at dealing with cyber issues that continue to exist within our future job opportunities.

During this time, me and three other cybersecurity students worked together to come up with innovated solutions to combat the prolific problem with online phishing attacks. We went around our campus and gathered a poll to see how many people were personally effected by phishing attacks. We then used the information we had to create a comprehensive guide and theoretical program to prevent people from being scammed by these attacks.

Overall this team based challenged showed me the importance of working together, and coordinating a cyber-based research project on our own, without the help of any external source. I believe that the knowledge that I had gained from this event has helped with my coordination and responsibility when it comes to working on bigger, collaborative based projects, as opposed to working on projects by myself.
