Here are the motives in order from most reasonable to less so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. For Money: Many cybercrimes are financially motivated, as money is directly related to maintaining a certain quality of life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Revenge: Such a motive sometimes makes people do something that is unreasonable and brings great harm to others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Recognition: Most of the hackers have notorious motives. Many of them perform high-profile cyber attacks to be renowned within their communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Political: This can sometimes show pretty good and effective ideologically motivated hacktivism, even though it seldom does have immediate material benefits for an individual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Amusement: This might be one of the strongest motivations, especially for young people who seek exhilaration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Boredom: Though relevant most of the time, it results in less serious crimes and may hence not be enough to mount to be a reason for criminality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Many Reasons: It is too indefinite and varied; consequently, less homogeneous in motive.
