www.bank0famerica.com vs. www.bankofamerica.com

amaz0n-offers.com vs. www.amazon.com

PayPal-verification.net vs. www.paypal.com

at first glance, it looks like all six sites are real, and one site is possibly just an extension of another. But that is completely wrong. The sites on the left are completely made up and are what we typically see in phishing emails. People create these fake links to get people to click on them and steal their account info, money, or both. The differences are only evident when you pay close attention; in the first example, instead of using an “o,” I used a “0,” which looks similar enough. In the second instance, as well. In the last, I used words like “verification” in the site title to intimidate whoever is reading it and make it more believable, and it’s titles like these that are getting people every day.
