Hello! My name is Noah Wilkins, and I am a graduate student in the MPH program at Old Dominion University. Within the MPH program, I am a part of the Environmental and Global Health Track with a further focus on Radiation Health. This ePortfolio is a guide to all of the work that I have done throughout the program and even some work from undergraduate studies.

I earned my B.S. in Nuclear Medicine Technology from ODU in May of 2021 before starting the MPH program in August of 2021. Throughout my time at ODU, I have been a member of Old Dominion University’s NCAA Division I swim team. The swim team is what brought me to the Hampton Roads Area back in 2017, and I have loved the area ever since.

The ODU Nuclear Medicine Program made me extremely curious about radiation safety and radiation health. I have found it fascinating that radiation and its health effects are widely studied yet the general public knows very little on the topic. Surely, radiation can be harmful and has shown to have deleterious effects to biological systems, but the cost of some medical procedures outweighs the risk. Since this is the case, the general public has the right to accessible and understandable information on radiation and its effects on human health. With the help from those within the MPH program, I am able to focus on radiation health and promotion — ensuring all have the necessary details regarding their health when radioactive sources are utilized.
