\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I am interested in cybersecurity for the job security and my overall interest in the field. Cybersecurity became a great interest of mine over the course of the past few years and I knew it was what I wanted to do once I left the military. Reading about different types of malicious code and bad software made me want to read more. My favorite part of cybersecurity is hands-on keyboard positions. I worked with things directly while I was in the Navy and actively working on something is what I wanted to do. My goal is to eventually get a job within the field and move up to a management position as I believe I have a lot to offer and would love to work in the field. Four other majors at Old Dominion University that relate to cybersecurity are computer science, information systems, criminal justice, and computer engineering. Computer science relates to cybersecurity as a subfield of computer science. Cybersecurity works within the field and both fields use their understanding of computers and their networks to relate to each other. Information systems relate to cybersecurity with their relation to working with a network. Information system majors focus on a company\u2019s network efficiency and cybersecurity will prevent the network from attacks and where the network becomes vulnerable. Criminal justice and cybersecurity relate to their positions on cybercrimes. Cybersecurity professionals focus on preventing and investigating cyber crimes. Criminal justice focuses on law enforcement and following all laws. They correlate directly while both majors focus on obeying the law and preventing crime. Computer engineering and cybersecurity relate as both work to identify threats and vulnerabilities within systems. Both career fields work similar jobs and actively attempt to defend and build up networks. All four majors share a relation with cybersecurity and can work in conjunction to assist each other in their prospective fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
