The Nystrom World Atlas is an invaluable source of information. Interpreting maps and data are essential skills for geographic inquiry. The atlas exercise has students investigate the various resources contained in the atlas, review the basic tenets of map making, and investigate the links between data. The basic premise underlying the exercise is that data only becomes information when it is used.
