The most common ones are using a fake email, misusing personal information and hacking into network systems. The impact of cyber technology allows an offender to make these illegal actions. Creating a fake email address, the offender will send emails to get a piece of individual personal information. These emails may state “You just won a free vacation of a cruise but all you have to do is enter your credit card information to save the trip”. These fake emails can lead a victim into entering their bank information. An impact on cyber technology is also the misuse of individuals’ personal information. An offender will try to find information about someone on a website; therefore, they can pretend to be that individual. This crime is also known as identity theft. Another one is hacking into a network system. Offenders commonly try to hack into one’s technology device to find stored information.

Not only does cyber technology impact the interaction of offenders, but it can impact the victims as well. Victims are the ones that are being targeted during a cybercrime. These victims are impacted between the offenders that can ruin their personal information, identity and financially. Victims do not realize the impact of cyber technology until it has gone too far. Opening up a spam email or putting your personal information out on social media can create identity theft but also ruin you financially. As soon as your bank information goes out, that hacker will be able to use it. That also goes the same for personal information that is posted. Posting about yourself is letting offenders get a hold of your identity. If a victim keeps personal information like their social security number or a picture of their birth certificate, then once a hacker gets into a network system they can access the information.
