Description: Team work is critical in every work environment and is something that I use every day. In my previous job as a supervisor I had to work as a leader and this really allowed me to focus on having good team work. Team work is about helping others that are in need and being able to ask for help when you are the one that is in need of assistance. In my current position, I work with lots of different teams every day. From this I have learned that it is important to ask questions. Being able to have the opportunity to work with the different teams allows me to ask them all questions and learn more about what they do / how they do it.
Artifact #1: Cross Country / Track & Field Team Captain
In my senior year of high school I was the team captain for the Cross Country and Track & Field Teams. This gave me the opportunity to grow my leadership and team work skills. With this role I was expected to make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to at practice and for meet days. This included making sure everything was done on time, working with teammates to make sure everything is out/put away for practice/meets, and to make sure are all working together for the main goal of the team. Overall this experience really allowed me to learn the best ways to work with others and some techniques on how to be a leader.
Artifact #2: Data Center Project
In my current role I work with the network team and server team to install / decommission equipment in the data center. This has helped with my team work in the IT environment in being able to effectively communicate port numbers, IP address, and other identifiers. With this process we work together to get change management forms for both new installs and removing old un-used equipment. It is very important to use strong communication skills to prevent any mistakes in taking down servers that are still used, or setting up incorrect configurations on new servers.
Artifact #3: Leader on Flash Foods Project
When I was working as a supervisor at Martins Foods I was assigned with implementing Flash Foods into our store when it first came out. For this I had to work with our store managers, other store managers, and team leads in each department of the store. With this project I had to use my team work skills to include the needs of all the different departments while also making sure that we were hitting our goals and providing enough food for all of our customers.
