What is the Nursing Shortage?

The first essay I wrote for Professor Dunlevy, I wrote about what is the nursing shortage, why it is important to me, and why it is important to others. The nursing shortage is when there is a decline of nursing in hospitals, which causes the hospital to be very unorganized and out of order. Nurses are feeling burnt out and patients are not getting the care that they should. This topic is important to me because one day I will become a nurse and I want people to appreciate not only me, but other nurses as well for how hard we work. This is also important to others because one day when they are sick a nurse will make them feel better. However, if there aren’t any nurses then their lives will be in danger.

I also talked about how hard nurses are working during the COVID 19 crisis. They have to work longer hours, and they always have to be cautious because of how deadly the virus is. They also have to be separated from their family at the end of the day because they don’t want to spread the virus to their family. Meaning most nurses have to sleep outside their car, or even in their house garage. In the end, I encourage people to pay more attention to this situation because it is very serious, and hope that hospitals will be more organized so that nurses will not be burnt out at the end of the day and enjoy what they do.
