This week, I was tasked to complete the NEO personality test. The NEO personality test is an activity people can do to learn about their personality types. The NEO personality test is a great way to learn where you stand on the 5 major dimensions of personality: Openness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism. After taking the personality test I scored “high” in all 5 categories, ranking very high in 3 out of the 5 categories. I ranked “high” on Neuroticism and Conscientiousness, and “very high” in Extraversion, Openness, and Agreeableness. These results reveal tons about the type of person I am, and who I try to be in this world!

For the majority of my results, I would say that they are consistent with my personality. For dimension 1, Openness, I ranked very high. According to the NEO test, ranking high means I am open to new experiences, have broad interests, and very imaginative. I match this statement. I tend to daydream a lot, I daydream so much that I am recognized as a “dreamer” in my family. I also have lots of interests, so many interests that it was very hard for me to choose a major in college because there were so many things I wanted to learn about!

For Conscientiousness, I ranked high, I agree with this ranking as well. According to the NEO test, ranking high means I am well organized, have high standards, and always strive to accomplish my goals. I agree with these attributes because I am a very motivated person, and I do tend to set very high standards for myself. Sometimes my standards are so high that they can be crippling!

In Agreeableness, I ranked very high. According to the NEO test, ranking high means I am compassionate, eager to cooperate, and avoid conflict. I agree with these attributes. I try to be a very understanding person, and I always try my best to be friendly to others. I have been told by others that I am very sweet and “warm.”

In Extraversion, I ranked very high. According to the NEO test, ranking high means I am outgoing, high-spirited, and I prefer to be around others. I do not completely agree with all of the characteristics of this dimension. While I consider myself to be high-spirited and extremely outgoing, I do value alone time, and I appreciate alone time more than being around people.

For the last dimension, Neuroticism, I ranked very high. According to the NEO test, ranking high means I am sensitive, emotional, and prone to experiencing upsetting feelings. This is the dimension I most agree with. I am a very sensitive person, many people in my family call me an “empath” because of how in tune I am with my own emotions and the emotions of others!

Overall, taking the NEO test was an enjoyable experience, and I learned a lot about myself! I would encourage others to try it.

This picture represents a few traits that represent my personality. I choose these words because they accurately reflect who I am! These words not only reflect who I am, but they also reflect how I treat others. Many of these words agree with the attributes assigned to me by the NEO test.
