This artifact from Module 5 is probably my favorite artifact from this course. Reason being that the activity aligned with my own personal goals for this course really well.

Being raised in a middle eastern household in America wasn’t easy by any means. The values my parents raised me on, often conflicted with how many of my close friends were raised, but there were many that I can assume were universal values. Through the years I would say that I found a happy medium between my American culture and my parent’s culture.

I chose this picture and this artifact because I faced a lot of conflict with my dad on how I wanted to mesh the two cultures into one, which ultimately caused a big rift between his and I’s relationship, but my mom was a different story. I think she understood the need for enculturation in order to survive and succeed in this day and age. She has helped me find a center within myself and to find peace between my two cultures.
