TA 3
The top artifact I found to be most interesting and engaging was the module pertaining to aggression. I liked this archived item the best because I have someone in my life personally who deals with anger and aggression. I also felt that with this item I was able to really think about what I consider to be truly aggressive behavior versus other factors playing a part into the animal or person’s reaction.
I learned that I see aggression as intentional, done to either living or non-living things and even without it being done physically but thinking of something to cause someone harm. When it comes to instincts, self-defense, accidents, self-injury and killing for sport, I see that as more with a purpose and not one that comes with rage and anger behind it. I then learned the drive to harm or injure people results in overt aggression according to the Drive Theory. It expanded my knowledge by looking at how Freud breaks it down. He says that we want a homeostatic state but when something disrupts that our body reacts by forming drives. Some peoples drives result in aggression as the method to resolve this disruption within there body.
The picture I have used for referenced breaks down as simple as possible what Drive Theory is stating. Whatever “performance” is occurring will determine the time of action the body will take and how intense it may be.

TA 2
For the different artifacts in modules 7-10, I found interest in the one from module 8 where we pick stereotypes for different ethnic and racial groups and compare it to the survey and discuss why and how they are changing over time. I liked this one the most because whether we think we agree or disagree with the stereotypes of society, they affect the way we react or think initially. It also plays a part into what others think or feel, especially if they see that stereotype to be true. Then, that affects the way they see people of that racial or ethnic group and how they may treat people of that group, vote for people of that group or so on plays a role in what our society looks like and even laws that could be passed. Being a preschool teacher as well as a college student, it means I interact and am around many different types of people in my life. I try to be the example for loving and accepting everyone, and not judging “known” characteristic of a person based on ethnicity or race and either my students or friends can follow that example.
What I learned from this activity is first, how different people from different backgrounds may have different ideas of how a certain ethnicity or race acts. But, then, how people genuinely see the same stereotypes across the world in one way or another. I saw how certain groups were judged differently as time went on, some worse and some better. However, I realized how what was going on in the world played a big part into a certain stereotype’s change. This artifact helped to expand my knowledge because it showed me what stereotypes I have heard and what others have as well. After doing a word cloud of words to describe Americans, it really opened my eyes because if as an American, I can think those things, other countries can too. That goes the same for all ethnic and racial groups and how dangerous stereotypes can be.
Differences

TA 1
When looking at the different artifacts, I felt the one that interested me the most was The Self Across Situations. It intrigued me the most because I am currently a preschool teacher and so looking at the way I handled a situation with one kid compared to another, a situation between two coworkers, and situations with those I am around daily out of school was not what I expected. I felt that my personality is pretty consistent besides the patience I hold for kids is much higher than with adults, but it turned out that I do act differently depending on who it is I am conversing with. The only personality trait that stayed consistent is my sarcastic nature, I just had to simplify is for the children.
I felt that I learned a lot about how we tend to manage ourselves in different situations surrounded around different people. I also feel like perception played a big role in how we hold ourselves around the different groups of people. When being around children, I am the authority figure as well as someone they look up to and mimic a lot of the time and I have to be self aware in how they might perceive me and if it positively influencing them and there development.
This photo of my class is important because photos are able to capture a moment in time, but also, a perception of the world as it is. Pictures can speak a thousand words, but the words I choose to say are most likely different than what someone else will choose to say. I also feel this picture is relevant because after it was taken, they all ran to the phone and asked to see it. They wanted to see themselves and see what there friends looked like and that has so much to do with self-awareness.
