Preferred Name & Pronouns

Navigating the start of the semester can be stressful for students, particularly trans students, when it comes to letting professors know what name to call them by and which pronouns to use. Fortunately, ODU allows students to change their “preferred name” over their legal name in the university system. This name change will appear in Blackboard, class rosters, Degree Works, email display name, ITS help desk, and student ID cards.
