The Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics<\/strong> is one of several research centers at Old Dominion University (ODU)<\/strong>. The center seeks to understand how pulsed electromagnetic fields and cold ionized gases interact with biological cells to provide more understanding in the fields of biotechnology, medical diagnostics and therapeutics, industrial processing and sterilization, and environmental remediation. The center is located inside the Innovation Research Park (IRP)<\/a><\/strong> at the University Village<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics was established under the tenure of President Roseann Runte<\/a><\/strong> by Dr. Karl Schoenbach, an eminent scholar and professor emeritus in engineering at ODU, in 2002. The center opened its doors in Norfolk’s Public Health Building in November 2003 and moved to the IRP in 2007. The center is named after Frank Reidy, a former member of the ODU Board of Visitors from 2011 to 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
