Learn how to do the cheer\/dance on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odu.edu\/life\/gettinginvolved\/spirit\/campus-traditions\">ODU Campus Traditions<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<h3>History<\/h3>\n<p>The idea for the Ice Cream and Cake dance originated in 2005 at a camp at Rutgers University attended by the ODU Dynasty Dance Team. The first performance of Ice Cream and Cake took place during a timeout at a basketball game that fall. While spectators were originally stunned, the tradition has picked up and is a staple of every <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/oduwiki\/2021\/11\/22\/mens-basketball-at-odu\/\">basketball<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/oduwiki\/2016\/06\/02\/26\/\"><strong>football<\/strong><\/a> game.
