The\u00a0Barry M. Kornblau Alumni Center<\/strong>, located at the corner of 49th Street and Hampton Boulevard, is home to the\u00a0Alumni Association<\/strong><\/a> at\u00a0Old Dominion University (ODU)<\/strong>. The building is named in honor of Barry M. Kornblau, class of 1971 and a member of the ODU\u00a0Board of Visitors<\/strong><\/a>. In 2022, Alumni Relations moved out of the center and it became known as the Welcome Center.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

The building originally opened in 1984 as the Public Safety Building that house the ODU Police Department. The police occupied the building until 2003, when new offices opened in the\u00a0University Village<\/strong><\/a>. With the generous gift of Barry M. Kornblau, the alumni center opened in 2004. Since then, the building has hosted events for the over 140,000 alumni of ODU. In 2022, Alumni Relations moved out of the center and it became known as the Welcome Center.<\/p>\n
