The\u00a0Applied Research Center (ARC)<\/strong> is a state-of-the-art business park in Newport News, Virginia where faculty, staff, and researchers from local colleges and universities, including\u00a0Old Dominion University (ODU)<\/strong>, come together to work on various projects.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

The building was dedicated in 1998 and is operated by ODU. Home to a free-electron laser, the center also provides opportunities for testing, research, and development of different materials. The research conducted at ARC is a major stimulus to the Hampton Roads economy.<\/p>\n
