Having been in the music industry for almost twenty years now, how has Taylor Swift managed to stay so relevant? Love her or hate or, you cannot deny her perseverance. For one, she’s one of the most dynamic artists in the game currently. Her discography spans many genres including, but not limited to country, pop, and alternative. She’s had her highs and lows throughout her career, but she has made history in music.

Before I tell you how I feel, and if you have the time, please fill out this survey below regarding your personal thoughts and feelings about Taylor Swift’s music.

As of 2024, Taylor Swift has won “Album of the Year” four times at the Grammys. The first was in 2010 for “Fearless.” The second was in 2016, featuring her first official pop album “1989.” Her third win of the award was in 2021 for “Folklore,” one of the many albums that defined the 2020-2021 pandemic. The fourth and most recent win of “Album of the Year” was this year, 2024 for “Midnights.” Now why does this matter? Taylor Swift is the first person in grammy history to win album of the year four times. In the music world that is a huge feat. In the year 2023, Taylor Swift occupied Spotify’s #1 spot for most listened to artist.

@bagelsmoker
whos your favorite artist this year ? #chartly #fyp
♬ Cruel Summer – Taylor Swift

(Credit to Tiktok user @bagelsmoker for the video of the top 20 listened to Spotify artists of 2023. For example, she has completely claimed the word “Era.” It allows fans of her music to more personally identify with each individual album. Perhaps one everybody’s heard before is someone being in their “Reputation Era.” It’s almost as if each album has been personified as its own personality. This is just one instance of that little extra something Taylor Swift possesses that places her above so many other artists. Furthermore, these specific “Eras” can be assigned to fashion as well. During Taylor Swift’s Era’s tour, fans would go dressed up as their favorite album. For example, if someone’s favorite album was Lover, they’d wear something fun and bright with pinks and pastels. Or, if someone’s favorite album was Speak Now, they’d wear something flashy in the color purple. Because each album has its own unique brand, fans can easily identify what outfits and colors belong to each “Era.”

(Lover Era outfit. E News – Mckenna Aiello)

(Speak Now Era outfit. Daily Mail – Dinah Tulleken)

On Friday April 19th, 2024, Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album dubbed “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.” This collection of a whopping thirty-one songs features some of her best lyricism yet.
