The Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity, commonly referred to as the NICE Framework, is a nationally focused resource to help employers develop their cybersecurity workforce. It establishes a common lexicon that describes cybersecurity work and workers regardless of where or for whom the work is performed. The framework consists of 7 categories: Analyze, Collect and Operate, Investigate, Operate and Maintain, Oversee and Govern, Protect and Defend, and Securely Provision. The NICE Framework applies across public, private, and academic sectors.
The category that I resonate with the most would have to be “Investigate”, it is primarily focused on investigating cybersecurity events or crimes related to information technology (IT) systems, networks, and digital evidence. I am particularly drawn to this category because it allows me to strengthen my skills on being keener and fulfilling the satisfaction of finding the root of the problem as well as presenting a solution.
The specialty area that appeals to me the least would have to be Securely Provision; this category focuses on building secure IT systems. This is the least appealing to me because while I am interested in this category, I am not particularly passionate about designing and developing system concepts.
