The legal system that we have in today’s society really struggles when it comes to keeping up with the advancement of technology. But when you get all the information and look at it, they really have nobody to blame but themselves. Our legislative body should try to create a separate body that focuses completely on technology, training, and recruitment. Creating a body like this allows for us to keep our eyes on people who surf the internment and potentially detect threats quicker. I also believe that we should aim more towards the youth when filling in this body for our government. Which is best explained by this, “Congress and universities should work together to ensure that computer science and engineering students know that pursuing policy work is a path that they can take. Congress should seek out undergraduates pursuing S&T majors and get them working on Capitol Hill through internships and fellowships.” (Mike Miesen 2019). But for students to feel like this is an amazing opportunity, they should offer it as a credit. Doing it that way makes them wanna take advantage of the opportunity being presented to them. We could also encourage a push towards working in the technology field in high school by offering courses to students along with visiting the schools and providing benefits just like the military does. Congress could invest in themselves by hiring more staff and pay a competitive salary. Lastly , I would look more into the softwares that the public is offered to use. Putting restrictions on these softwares would of course make the public feel as if their freedom is being limited, but with how forums are constantly allowing people to share how to hide IP addresses and not be tracked by our government and FBI agencies/officials. They’re only going to take advantage of this gap and we’ll have no idea of what exactly is going on behind closed doors. So in all its time for our legal systems to step up and get aggressive towards paving pathways to ensure we get more youth in the systems and more word on the opportunities we have. Because the only way we can keep up with technology advancement is by keeping fresh minds in the legislative body.
