The principle of science in cybersecurity helps us to gather data and understand humans with technology all at one time. It gives us structure within the networks of devices, tools and techniques, and behavior of humans. If we didn’t have science in cybersecurity a lot of things wouldn’t have answers to them. Science gives us the ability to answer the what if and why questions that we have on a daily basis. Being able to run experiments/tests allows for companies to detect problems before it’s too late and the damage has been done. Also science helps the cyber world determine behavior especially of those that are on the bad side of cybersecurity (hackers). After entering this major I have been able to learn that we use science in such a way I never knew was possible on humans. Not all experiments conducted are accurate but it gives us the idea of what thoughts were going through their heads and possibly the motivation for their actions. Now i’m not saying we should solely rely on science to give all the answers but it lays a foundation that the cyber world can build and lay upon in the upcoming future. There’s no telling what type of technology problems and behavior we’ll see in the future, so it’s best for us to start getting prepared for whatever is next to come.
