Major: Nursing 

Why?:  I Have always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field because my mom and older brother have careers in the health field. I chose nursing because I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, but I did not want to go through too many extra years of school. 

Experience: I have volunteered at a few hospitals in the PET/CT, MRI, and PT departments. I have also shadowed OR nurses and surgeons in the OR. When volunteering I mostly just sanitized equipment after patients were done with their visit, and I brought patients in from the waiting room. This experience gave me some interaction with patients which will help me when I need to talk to patients in the future. Shadowing OR nurses allowed me to see what a day of work is like for a nurse in the OR. I was able to see the processes in setting up the OR for a surgery, how patients were brought in and prepped for surgery, and how they ensured everything remained sterile.
