The Louvre is one of the most famous places to visit in France, and it holds rich French history and culture as well as art and artifacts from many other places around the world. I think its intersection of various cultures makes it one of the most enriching museums to visit in France. The fact that it houses paintings, sculptures, artifacts, and even architectural elements makes it a very well-rounded and diverse exploration of culture and history.

I chose this image of the Gorges du Verdon because it is a beautiful and notable natural landmark in France. The Gorges du Verdon is a river canyon, formed by the Verdon River in Southeastern France. It is often called the Grand Canyon of Europe/France due to its stunning views and vast expanse. It is the deepest gorge in France and one of the largest in Europe.

This image comes from the city of Quimper in France and showcases French people wearing traditional dress and engaging with traditional music. This is very important because it is a way that they keep their history and their culture alive in the present day, celebrating their country’s unique heritage. This is for the Festival de Cornouaille, which is an annual week-long festival that has been held since 1923. The festival was traditionally a beauty pageant, but today, it celebrates a diverse array of culture, featuring shows, concerts, and even animations. The festival was paused throughout World War II, and after being reintroduced for a couple years following the end of the war, the beauty pageant and election of a ‘queen’ was abandoned following criticism.

I chose this picture of the Louvre for its artistic cultural significance.
