Fall ’19 Scheduling Classes

The week of April 1st is quickly approaching! A.K.A we are less than 2 weeks away from scheduling classes for the Fall 2019 semester. When scheduling for classes there are some things that you must consider to ensure that you are setting yourself up to have a successful fall semester.

  1. Make sure that you know what required classes you still need to take.
    1. If you are a freshman/sophomore you probably still have some general education classes left. Even if these classes seem like they are going to be boring, they are fundamental because you will not be able to declare you major until after these are completed.
    2. You don’t really want to waste your time taking classes that are not necessary for you to graduate/complete your degree(s) because remember every class costs $$.
  2. Make sure you are enrolled in at least 12 credits to be considered a full time student
    1. I recommend enrolling in 15 credits each semester.
    2. It is not suggested that you take more than 18 credits per semester!
  3. Take into consideration other commitments you may have during the semester
    1. The great thing about college is that you can create your own schedule. This includes choosing when you have class. If you have a job or other commitments throughout the school year make sure you are leaving yourself time in your schedule to fulfill those. Don’t overbook yourself! Getting prepared early is a great way to stay organized.
  4. Use ratemyprofessor.com
    1. Many classes are taught by different professors so go online to see reviews of the various professors that teach each class so you can see which one might be the best for you.
  5. Add your classes/class times to Leo-Online & DegreeWorks
    1. Adding your plan to both places will make it easy/organized for you come day of registration.

Remember: Pre-registration takes place from April 1st-5th. You can check to see what your time ticket is for registering by logging in to my.odu.edu

Finish out this semester strong! You got this!
