Today in class we talked about genre. With the chart, we compared three examples of the same genre from the same discourse community. I found this particularly interesting because I was analyzing my own work. I noticed that even though I am writing within the same genre, my purpose, audience, and format shifts depending on what I am talking about. I thought that was interesting.

We also talked about email and how it is an emerging technology. The most important part of the reading and discussion that I took about email is that it can disrupt and create hierarchies. I also found the invisible workload it places on professors and teachers unfair.
