I would rate the entertainment as the 1st motive because in the motive the offender had stolen the data of more than 700 million customers for fun, which was accounted for the 92% of total users of LinkedIn. The stolen data included personal details, phone numbers, and locations.

  • Multiple reasons

It involves many reasons of cybercrimes, but the main gain would be the money. The hackers usually get motivated financially, and they tend to go to attack huge entities to acquire more in one trip. It also involves, and socioeconomic factors, and psychological factors to do the cybercrimes.

  • For money

Nowadays, the main reason behind a cyber crime is money. There could be various reasons of acquiring a huge amount of from entities. It also includes the lifestyle hackers would like to live, in which they tend to spend 20% on buying IT devices, 15% on attractions, 15% immediate needs, 30% personal investment, and 20% on drugs and sex.

  • Boredom

The percentage of using children from three to 13 has skyrocketed. As a child, using the social media platform, they are not aware of what negative impact it could make it on their lives. Therefore, hackers are now targeting more children than adults to fulfil their needs. They are using children for cyberbullying and online sexual grooming. Children could get attracted easily.

  • Political

The cybercrimes could take place because of political reasons between two nations. The activist hackers try to prove their point in the political system by launching the attacks. There could be different hackers acquiring the data of political officials from different locations.

  • Revenge

A cybercrime could take a place to get revenge against someone. It tends to target an individual, and it may target celebrities to acquire their personal details and money by creating false identities and false data. They could become a victim of porn, and the youngest target was 14 years old in recent research. Social media platforms enable the hackers to find the victims easier and start the conversation. Eventually, they could become victims of image based sexual abuse.

Cybercrime could involve the political aspect. In United Kingdom, Bradley Niblock launched DDoS assault against the website of a political party. The user capacity of the website was 100 users per day, but the hacker flooded the website with 250,000 users. The hacker received 8 months in prison and 2 years suspension.
