2010          Named Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Government  for significant contributions to the advancement of French culture)

2006                Winner of  the Robert L. Stern Award for Excellence in Teaching (College of Arts and                         Letters, Old Dominion University based on a five-year teaching period)

2004-2009       Elected  to the MLA Executive Committee of the Division on Twentieth-Century French                                                Literature
