This website had many modules that helped me gain insight into Spanish culture.

From what I learned in the modules, the Spanish-speaking world is as baffling as the English-speaking world. For example, for some reason, they are confused about why men make more money and receive more attention in sports. Sport is a discipline where people showcase their physical prowess, so obviously testosterone helps. Furthermore, there was a module about LGBT rights in different Spanish countries. I find this dreadfully boring topic to be void of any real Spanish culture I could have learned. I had no stereotypes or misconceptions that I worked through because I refuse to change my belief system so easily.

Engaging in Communities

I have engaged in Spanish communities and found them pleasant and similar to English communities. The languages are different, but Spanish-American culture is not that foreign to Americans.

Interpersonal Communication

In this class, I engaged in an activity called Talk Abroad. This was an exciting opportunity to talk to Spanish-speaking individuals from different countries. The conversation went by fast, and the people were helpful. I found it to be an engaging and effective exercise.

In the talk about activities, it was sometimes difficult to remember what words mean. As the class continued my Spanish skills developed. One thing that helped was the first project. I had to describe a picture of my family. It required me to speak Spanish for three minutes. I think I was good at getting better at word memorization due to the interpersonal exercises. Next time I would try to learn more words to make it more fun.

Presentational Speaking

In this class some exercises required presentational speaking

One of the exercises required a conversation that someone would have in a restaurant. This was an excellent opportunity to use Spanish in sentences. It was hard to construct the sentences; however, when it was completed I think I was good at pronunciation. This was challenging, but it helped me overcome my weakness, which is speaking Spanish in sentences.

Presentational Writing

there was a project that required making a pamphlet that informed people about illness.

This was challenging because It required the use of commands. It was essential to tell people what they should do and avoid. It was very helpful for learning commands.

Interpretive Listening

This class was mostly in Spanish.

The professor spoke Spanish for most of this class. This was helpful to train my brain to understand Spanish. Before this class, I had trouble differentiating between words in Spanish. It all sounded like one long word.

Interpretive Reading

There was a lot of reading in this class on lingrolearning.

Reading was helpful when the learning the objectives. Vocabulary and Grammer are important, but so is forming sentences. Reading was essential for learning sentence structure.

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication Instructions Exploring Culture In this course most of the work was through lingrolearning.
