Specifically, it examines how tech advancements over time impact human behavior, colleges, power dynamics, and structures in society. The study demonstrates how criminals adapt AI tools to exploit vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure, and how society responds with legal, ethical, and technological countermeasures. These interactions show signs of key social science concepts such as deviance, social control, risk society, and surveillance.

A good number of people in my community back in Richmond may not know they’ve been hit by cybercrime while it’s happening to them.

Its insights aid policymakers, tech developers, and law enforcement in anticipating threats and building ethical countermeasures. By looking at risks and responses through a social science viewpoint, the article enhances our understanding of how technology shapes people’s behavior, especially in high-risk digital environments. It’s a valuable piece for sparking both academic and policy level conversations on cybersecurity, justice, and digital ethics. Overall, this article made me think deeply about what the future holds. Are we going to be able to keep up with the risks of AI, or just barely react when things go south?
