Some of the biggest security risks that pose a threat to the internet-of-things would have to be the malicious actors trying to attack the systems we have in place. Since 2012, the world connected through IoT has seen an exponential increase in attacks and threats. In 2013 alone, in a study conducted by the University of North Georgia, an estimated 3,809,448 records are stolen from systems everyday. These numbers have only increased and unless measures are taken to protect our systems, it is not a matter of if, but when something significant enough to change the entire view on IoT happens. Malicious actors and opportunistic people pose such a high threat to IoT, it almost seems as if the root of every other issue, stems from it.
