Research Projects
ILE students were assigned to teams based on their interests, leadership styles, and schedule. The team members worked together (with an ILE faculty member) to develop an appropriate topic, design a study to test their research question(s), collect and analyze the data, and report the study results. Both a formal APA-style research paper and Research Poster were produced. The project was conducted in stages so students received formative feedback throughout.
ILE faculty members coordinated and hosted a Psychology Department Undergraduate Research Fair at the end of the semester where the research teams presented their projects. Other Psychology students who had research to present (e.g., other methods classes, independent study, honors theses) were invited along with faculty and family and friends. The presentation provided an opportunity to share their research projects with both faculty and peers and to receive feedback on their research and presentation. This type of experience is important preparation for graduate study and served to strengthen ties between students in the ILE cohort.
