Just like any other emotion, happiness is a choice. You choose whether or not you are happy. With this archive and the scale, I scored a 4.75 for happiness. This means that I scored between the average. However, I honestly do not think that this scale or any other scale cannot accurately measure happiness. I say this because there are a lot of factors that go into being happy. People are happy for different reasons, so I think that when it comes to measuring a person’s happiness, it has to be based on their lifestyle or culture of some sort. When it comes to the society aspect of being happy, I think that we have put so much time into social media, that what we put out there is a facade. In today’s society, everything revolves around social media, that people feel they have to share moments of them smiling or “enjoying life”, to show they are happy. I did like this archive and found it to be interesting because you really think about what all goes into being happy.

The picture that I chose for this assignment to me is what happiness means. I would like to think that overall I try to be a very positive person and look at situations in a perspective of where the glass is half full instead of half empty. To me, happiness is truly being at peace with yourself and learning to choose your battles. Happiness is about doing things that are good for your soul, what you perceive will strictly make you happy. I think there comes a time where in every stage of your life, whether it be your 20’s or your 30’s, people think that you have to achieve certain things to be considered happy. However, happiness looks different for everyone, and once you realize something that makes someone else’s path to happiness may not be the same path for you happiness, you will learn what makes you happy. Again, happiness to me is peace, and this picture makes me feel at peace.

Top Artifact 2

When it comes to the mask mandate, there are those who do not mind wearing a mask, and there are those who oppose to wearing a mask. Whatever the decision may be, both are fine. However, as I observe I do notice some controversy from both opposing sides. I work as a barista at Starbucks, and I observe the different social behaviors when it comes to the masks. Those customers who typically do not wear a mask, also do not follow the six-foot rule that is recommended by the CDC. They also tend to express how stupid the masks are to those who are wearing masks. However, I have noticed those who do wear a mask do not typically antagonize those who choose not to wear a mask. I found this archive interesting because it makes me think that if one person doesn’t choose to step out of the conformity bubble, then would it always stay the same?

The picture below demonstrates that when a new idea is presented to a group of people, if majority rules, then most choose to conform and follow the crowd. The mask mandate is a perfect example when it comes to deciding to conform or not. I think that in the beginning we as humans choose to conform because we do not want to be an outcast, but as we get more comfortable and see others step out of this conformity bubble, then others will as well. I think that we often fear being different that sometimes it is easier to conform.

Top Artifact 1

The two photos that I selected go along with the Module 3 Archive. This archive talks about “similarity leads to attraction” and “opposites attract”. The first photo is of my older sister and her husband. I have never met two people who are so similar and get along perfectly fine. The second photo is of my mom and dad. Now when they say opposites attract, I would most definitely think of my parents because they are pretty different. I liked this archived item the most because it made me think of two couples who have a big impact on my life, but it also made me realize that both of these statements are true.

I think from this archive, what I learned most was that whether you are opposites or completely similar, it can work out. I think it really stems from having a balance in a relationship that depends on if it will work out. A lot of people can agree to disagree, but I found that sometimes being so similar can be the cause of not being able to work in a relationship.
