The assignment in question is about a research paper in which students must write about a topic with sources that have biological methods. It is a written assignment, which must be at least five pages that is due at the end of the semester. The students must review a topic relating to physiological psychology and use peer-reviewed research to back it up. Those are the only requirements and students are free to choose any topic as long as it has to correct criteria for the methods.
It is a class requirement that Professor Judah created. As an online undergraduate teaching assistant, I was not able to do hands on activities with the students. I was able to answer questions regarding the assignment because I have taken the class previously, in which I received an A. But, I did offer assistance in the best way I could. This ties into my teaching philosophy that providing helpful assistance\/feedback is pertinent in student success. Also, responding quickly is considerate of the student\u2019s time as well. I learned how to explain things in a way that the student can better understand. Patience is key when working in a teaching position, just because I may understand something, does not mean the student will. Sometimes the syllabus explains things in which maybe the professor understands but not the student. I honestly wish more students emailed me for assistance because I would have loved to help more. I have been in these positions many times before and I love knowing that I helped a student when they needed it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the things I was tasked with was grading discussion posts. After each module, students were expected to write a short discussion about what they learned or what they were still confused about. It is pretty easy and a very open ended assignment. My role was to grade the post based on the student\u2019s understanding of the material and the effort they put into it. I gave feedback to the student so they could receive a better grade next time. This ties into my teaching philosophy because students only learn when they are able to get constructive feedback.
\nI learned that everyone learns differently and students may think they are adhering to the requirements when they are not. This activity taught me that people learn differently and that students may not understand what the professor expects. This post is from one of the first couple of modules and this shows that the person did not understand the requirement for a two sentence minimum of each post. If I had to grade this again, I would have been more specific about the content needed in the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
