I chose to write about emotional portrayal from chapter 8. The article included 769 individuals in a northern region of Italy. I expanded about in topic by discussing the consequences of controlling negative emotions in the workplace. Cultural differences come into play by promoting the rules for how to appropriately manage emotional expressions. The assignment was personally relevant. While comparing, Italy and the United States are affective cultures, meaning they express their emotions openly.\u00a0From this assignment, I took away that we should be aware how we verbally and nonverbally present and communicate our emotions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-166 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/psych-goings\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9937\/2018\/11\/she-brought-her-warmest-smile-to-the-interview-509916897-5b048b4a3418c6003fe191c3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>ATA4<\/h3>\n<p>For assignment four, I had to look for gender role based advertisements and compare them between two cultures.\u00a0I chose to look at ads that displayed gender stereotypes in the United States and the United Kingdom. There were many similarities amongst the countries. Both countries maintain the idea that women\u00a0should either be used as domestic partners and\/or sexual objects for their male counterparts. \u00a0Currently, you may see\u00a0women are trying to break the roles of gender stereotyping in mass media, but many people still conform to these stereotypes. Fortunately, companies are starting to end the traditional concept of gender roles.\u00a0It wasn\u2019t until recently that the United Kingdom realized the harmful effects of the media to the society. From the thirteen values listed in the article, I had to choose one that I related to the most. The value that I mostly lived by was change. In America, change is a value aspect for future development. The assignment was personally relevant. I have experienced changed all throughout my life.\u00a0From the assignment, I took away that change is unavoidable, and people should accept it. I identified with the fifth stage. The assignment engaged my by aligning with my expectancies for this class by teaching me something new that pertains to my everyday life and having chose to complete this assignment, and .
