Journal Entry #11: As you watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYtmuHbhmS0, think about how the description of the cybersecurity analyst job relates to social behaviors. Write a paragraph describing social themes that arise in the presentation.

In the video, “What does a Cybersecurity Analyst Do? Salaries, Skills, & Job Outlook,” Nicole Enesse does a great job giving an overview of Cybersecurity positions, where they are located, skills, salaries, and much more. Based on these job descriptions, understanding social behaviors would be highly beneficial when working in this field. Some social behaviors I understood that would be beneficial in this job field are problem-solving, teamwork, and communication at all technical and non-technical levels. As she stated, a job in this field will likely lead you to start at a help desk if you choose, so clear and straightforward communication skills are vital, especially when communicating through technology.

Learning good communication skills can help in a professional environment where you will likely be working on a team, so adapting to the people and new technology must be essential. Technology is continuously evolving, and cybersecurity professionals must grow with them. This includes staying current on new policies, frameworks, and skills. Be adaptable and continue learning not only in technology but continue in fostering growth in social dynamics. If you know how people react or understand, you will be able to not only grow in cyber security but teach those around you. Overall, the video highlights some key aspects that you need to consider when looking for a position in this field, and knowing those social skills and behaviors can help you decide where you want to be and what you want to do in this field. Understanding that your social skills are just as critical as your technical skills can help you exceed expectations in any position within cybersecurity.
