SCADA systems can be a big help for agriculture, oil and gas, electrical power, food, and
beverage industries. It can monitor and distribute certain utilities. They can also be used in
homes, jobs, farms(agriculture), watering systems(sprinklers), etc. Government agencies need SCADA systems to help them conduct research for manufacturing control systems.
CIS- critical infrastructure systems
Infrastructure systems are the strength of communities and they are more critical having them incapacitated would have a weak effect on the economy, public safety, public health, and
security. 4 of the most important are energy, water, communication, and transportation and are
critical to the operation systems of almost all of the other sectors and each other. These are
fundamental to the delivery of basic societal communities seek to provide.
Vulnerabilities
The vulnerabilities reside deep within the control system, and the flaws of their vulnerabilities
would affect products belonging to the engineering workstations, human-machine systems,
operator panels, and field devices. The vulnerabilities in the critical infrastructure system has
increased and it risks the attacks exploiting the flaws that could bring everything down.
Geographical location is the most critical infrastructure meaning physical location and the assets are sufficient to each other and are vulnerable to disruption of the same. And threats causing damage.
Mitigating risks
Reducing the threats and or risks and protecting SCADA systems to monitor and analyze the
security. Make strong passwords and do not use your personal information for the password.
Having authentication like using a key or a fingerprint, or even a code that is sent to your phone to get in. And then when someone is trying to get in after a certain amount of tries they are booted out and can’t try again. All of this could help with threats of security and risks.
Conclusion
In conclusion, having SCADA systems and critical infrastructure systems helps with stuff the
government needs to search for and it helps with the things we need like water and
electricity(heat). And keeping important information and security.
